Um actually, Icecast does not use Ogg I believe. We have a spec for
Vorbis-over-RTP as well that does not use Ogg, and I believe Theora will
use RTP for broadcasting too. Ogg is for file storage and TCP pipes, not
lossy things like broadcast.
Notice we have made Ogg an IETF Internet proposed standard, out of sheer
curiosity, will you do this with Matroska too?
Even if the Matroska format does not seem to offer any direct advantage to
the Xiph projects as of now, it is still good, so it might do so in the
future.
