Because Vorbis comments are not to be abused for this.

Maybe.  But it's not a sexy problem, and it's a hard problem,
and there are not lots of motivated high-skilled developers
available.  Bugger.

I'm saying "no, you will have lost the previous functionality".  So
not something for nothing.

Both.  Because that's what it is defined to be used for; if you
use it for something else, you can't use it for its intended
use anymore, and that's a bad thing.
