Just because you're using crippled software, don't cripple everybody's
reading experience. Practically all e-mail readers allow so-called single
key reading - you just have to press space, and the message automatically
scrolls, and at the end of message jumps to the next. With properly quoted
messages (*not* bottom- or top- posted, but inline posted), this makes it
really easy to read and follow conversation. Top-posted (and on a bit
smaller scale, bottom-posted) messages cripple this, since you have to jump
up and down to see what the poster is referring to.

In-line quoting has another advantage: most people who quote in-line are
smart enough to strip all unneeded parts of the quotes. With top and bottom
quoted messages, the last message in thread usually carries all the previous
messages, multiplying the needed space for storage. While this may seem a
bit strange in today's age of big hard drives (after all, e-mails are only a
few kilobytes, right), it gets more serious with people who have to pay per
byte, and with those of us who keep archives of multiple mailing lists, so
that we don't have to search the (slower) online archives, or (worse) ask
the same question again.
