I think that is the best solution.
I've been lurking and reading for a while (cos I ain't no programmer.)
I am a musician and have been working with lots of different media files.
what I find is...
AVI - endings have got out of control, you need every filter, every plugin
to be sure it will open.
QT - just doesn't ever seem to work smoothly for me on P.C.
MP3 - I can't even hear that ugly word anymore - I've had problems there too
with lame and blame or whetever they call the codec stuff involved.
REAL - was ok they have audio and video in one extention, but it is very
easy
to get confused unless you title at least all video files with an extra
clue.
The switcher app sounds good but complicated.
The other thing I like is that ".Ogf ", when said aloud, is still "Ogg F"
The only problem is that people could start saying O.G.F. files
But thats a case of a bit of good promotion from the developers.
I'm sure that people like to say the word Ogg, it's fun!
"Oggy Oggy Oggy", "Oy Oy Oy" - something we used to shout in the boy scouts
:-)
