Not necessarily. He might have 1Gb of ram (no swap file)
and the OS might be on a good part of the disk. OTOH, a
disk read error is a read error and Windows will usually
tell you about it.

If you have SMART enabled disks, the best way to find out
the truth is with a SMART tool, eg. Active SMART from
http://www.ariolic.com
