All past code is available from CVS. Just find out the date, then:

cd vorbis
cvs -z4 update -dPA -D <date>

I think dates are available along with the encoder releases somewhere
in the list archives (either look for the release messages, or some
people have collected dates). ogginfo I think also has a list, as does
Unix file(1). I'd suggest updating to a few days after the release
date, as many bugfixes often came just a few days later.

Of course, it's always better if the latest version is the best
one. So if there's something you don't like about the latest version
that was better earlier, help Monty and friends by helping to pinpoint
the problem exactly, or, in a case like this, sending a patch (note,
though, that few people know the guts of the encoder very well, and
changes like stereo coupling can have wider effects than many might
anticipate, so be prepared to have your patch rejected -- but since
this is open-source software, you're still free to use it!).
