This also happened to me when I did -b 1. The bitrates hover around 100. I
didn't understand that. Plus the quality sounded good.

Is this the part you are talking about: "The current beta encoder supports
the following bitrates: 128, 160, 192, 256, 350 kbps in mono or stereo"?

This should be mentioned in the manual page.
