I don't see any reason why production and mastering facilities would change their
existing and working mastering process for DVDs. That's why I think neither
WMA nor Ogg stand a chance in this area.

You've got a point with the delivery. Streaming media services will develop a
need for multichannel audio delivery, given that enough bandwidth is available
to stream multichannel content. That will definitely be >128 kbit/s for audio.
