Just a quick point, Minidiscs are vastly more popular in Europe than
they are in the US. You can get commercial music on Minidiscs in
Europe also although not very much.

MP3 players, on the other hand, are now seeing a frightening growth
outstripping Minidiscs by a huge degree. I was in one of the largest
electronics goods high street retailers the other day and I counted 14
MP3 players and only 5 Minidiscs.
