[Vorbis-dev] Ambisonia proposal (was Re: vorbis-tools 1.3.0 BETA - Help testing.)

How the Ambisonics stuff got mixed in with the vorbis-tools beta
thread is a mystery to me.

Etienne may not have missed it, but there has been a large thread
(around 15-20 replies) just this month discussing the topic in this
very same mailing list.  Tracking it in the archives it seems to start
at [1].

Then, there's also the Ambisonics page at the Xiph Wiki[2], which I
recommend interested parties to check.

Now, the only thing to do is reach a consensus in how to do this.  I
remember the top suggestions to be:

1) use Vorbis mapping 1 as opposed to default's 0

2) use OggPCM channels

3) do a specific Ambisonics stream with all the extra channels and let
it be compatible with both audio formats (Vorbis and OggPCM)
