Great to see you help speed things up a little bit! :)

I still stand behind my patch in [5] and I've been using it for some 
time now with no issues. Compiled it with basically all versions of the 
Microsoft Compilers (VS2005, VS2005 SP1, VS2008, VS2008 SP1 both with 
built-in OS headers and with the "Windows SDK for Windows 2008 and .NET 
3.5".

Also had no issues with gcc 4.1 linux x86 and gcc 4.1 linux x64 and 
mingw on windows x86 (only os.h compiled in a small test suite, so I 
didn't come across the issue reported in [1] so far). I've still got 
mingw on my system at home, I'll see if I can do a complete libvorbis 
build when I get back later today.
