This boils down to the fact that the namespace for Ogg codecs is simply
6 characters (or rather 6 bytes) and thats it. Sound reasonable, as the
world will probably not be overly crowded with codecs after all (atleast
not the 256^6 that this scheme makes possible). AVI files settled for 4
characters only if I'm not mistaken.

And besides, the number of cool 6-letter lower case codec names should
be enough for anyone. (Now I said it.)
