That's a subset of what the spec allows consistent with usage, yes.

Note that the speex magic is really 'speex   ' (8 bytes), and in all 
three codecs the magic is followed by a version marker which may at 
some point become important to distinguish. That's why I want to be 
vague about the number of bytes required for type determination.
