Well for previously mispackaged libraries that is the case but going
forward you could split vorbis into the three libraries which make it
up.  Debian policy encourages doing this but I forgot to on the old
packages, I have split the debs though for 1.0 so I will not have the
porblem going forward. Having one package for multiple libraries will
almost always cause problems we were just lucky in the past with vorbis.

Easy, since they are no longer backwards compatible the libfoo.so.x.y.z
goes from:

libfoo.so.0.2.0 to libfoo.so.3.0.0 since the only interface supported
now is 3 instead of 0-2, if the old interfaces had still been supported
it would have been libfoo.so.0.3.0 for 0-3.
