Sorry to slice out this one line of your post, but I wanted to jump on
this.  If anyone lurking out there knows Win32 and is looking for a way to
contribute to this project, writing a win32 output driver for libao would be
great.  I assume that we would need cygwin to compile libao, but beyond that,
I have no idea what would be involved.

Anyone who tries to tackle this should contact me so I can be aware of
portability issues that will crop up.
