Actually, they could (by definition.  This was part of the original
metadata stream description).

You confuse 'transport stream' with 'being everything for everyone'
:-) The transport stream can do any number of things (like Perl) and
it's up to the user/programmer to decide what to do with it.  You can
do any number of things, including a smart server that delivers one
song from an album with art, lyrics, etc, pulled out of a larger
stream bundle.  etc, etc.
