We are aware that the lack of documentation is a bad thing - but it
requires time to get it all written, and effort so far has mostly been
concentrated on the codec itself. The documentation WILL get written.

If you want to help out, all the source is available, along with sufficient
examples and documentation to make it quite usable. Don't be put off by the
lack of documentation.
