I did some testing this weekend and noticed that my Toshiba DVDROM drive ran
considerably faster (30%-40%) when I used ide-scsi mode for my cdrom.  I'd
suggest testing that out if you're concerned.

Also, in my experience, the only time a track took a long time to rip was because
the cd was dirty/scratched, or your cdrom is not so optimal (bad cdrom).  What
does the status bar look like when it takes this long?
