[paranoia] I think I've found something cdparanoia can't rip...

I picked up a copy of Autechre's EP7 and discovered, while nosing around
on a fan website that it has a hidden track - though in this case it
really is hidden, as rather than padding the last track with silence, or
placing the track at track 99, this one is at the beginning of the CD,
before track 1:

Table of contents (audio tracks only):
track length begin copy pre ch
===========================================================
  1.    27060 [06:00.60]    43857 [09:44.57]    no   no  2
  2.    22425 [04:59.00]    70917 [15:45.42]    no   no  2

...as compared to something more mundane:

Table of contents (audio tracks only):
track length begin copy pre ch
===========================================================
  1.    22578 [05:01.03]        0 [00:00.00]    OK   no  2
  2.    18217 [04:02.67]    22578 [05:01.03]    OK   no  2

The various cd playing apps will just start at the beginning of track 1 if
you try to rewind past the beginning, so I figured I'd give cdparanoia a
go like so:

cdparanoia -B -- "-1"

No dice :-( It tries to rip to track00.cdda.wav but the file fills up
with null bytes while these error messages accumulate in the logs (up
until the point where I ran out of space :-) :

hda: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hda: packet command error: error=0x54
ATAPI device hda:
  Error: Illegal request -- (Sense key=0x05)
  Illegal mode for this track or incompatible medium -- (asc=0x64, ascq=0x00)
  The failed "<NULL>" packet command was:
  "be 04 00 00 0e 6b 00 00 06 f8 00 00 "

I'm guessing this is really a problem with the 2.2.16 ATAPI drivers, but I
wouldn't know for sure. Anyone have any clues as to how I can rip this
track?

Thanks,
John
