[paranoia] BUG in the Teac CD-532E-B CD-ROM drive

Hi !

I have a TEAC CD-532E-B ATAPI CD-ROM drive. This drive sometimes returns
wrong data. Happens when the CD is dirty or scrathed. A normal read-error,
only that the drive delivers bad data as good, that is it doesn't report
any error. The OS thinks everything is all right.

Happen with Audio CDs ( Red book ).

It sounds like a silence in the resulting file, normally around one
second long.

Here is an analisys of the problematic segment with 3 rips of the
same track done with cdda2wav under linux.

ilence is a constant value ( not zero ! )
different for left and right

(numerical values are samples)

cdda2wav.3.wav :
LEFT : begin at 15694900 , end 15699594 , length 4698 , value -5493
RIGTH : begin at 15694754 , end 15699596 , length 4843 , value -1291

cdda2wav.2.wav :
LEFT : begin at 15694897 , end 15699597 , length 4701 , value -5493
RIGTH : begin at 15694753 , end 15699597 , length 4845 , value -1291

cdda2wav.wav :
LEFT : begin at 15695286 , end 15699598 , length 4313 , value 9568
RIGTH : begin at 15695143 , end 15699598 , length 4456 , value 4472

This bug hits me pretty often while reading audioCDs.
With every complete (74 min) CD ripped I have approximately one
instance of the bug. So I must listen to the resulting files,
which takes up much time.

If I re-read the problematic track with lower speed, then the drive
makes less read-errors and usually the resulting file is OK.

Party on !

P.S.: Is there some "Broken Hardware" web-site , where I can also
submit these foundings ?
