[icecast] What's needed for non-live streaming of mp3 files

Let me put it this way: my boss wants to use icecast, and I'm a little lost on exactly what I need to set up the "playlist" for icecast. I'm starting to think ices is the thing to use but I'm still not sure. I'm quite confused by all the different "streamers", e.g. shout, ices, liveice, icedir....
