Yep, I didn't forget!  It will be in 0.9.  I still have the tracks
you submitted for testing this out.

Interesting P.S.  I think the reason it was is shorten in the 
first place is actually to make WAVE processing easier, since
that spec says to right pad samples with zeroes since samples
are stored on byte boundaries.  In other words, a 12 bit sample
is stored as a 16-bit sample with 4 LSB zeroes.  It just happens
to be useful in the tracks you ran across.
