That's an interesting approach the other way round, I like it. There's a
caveat, though - current MP3 taggers certainly don't have anything to
grey out, so we're back to writing/designing new GUIs for taggers that
shall support .ogg in a useful manner. They'd mutate from MP3 taggers to
Ogg taggers with MP3 support. I wonder how many developers want to take
this road - to me it'd sound less messy to just write a new tool with
the new purpose in mind.
