p.s. the one detail i would emphasize the most, especially in writing
letters to manufacturers of portable players, is bitrate peeling --
as far as i know (please correct me if i'm wrong on this) *none*
of the other formats supports this, and it's a *huge* win for anyone
who wants to archive their collection (say 192kbps) but also to use
reduced-bitrate versions of those same files for their portable
player (when i work out, 128kbps is more than enough, and i can
cram more music on my player that way).
