I'm afraid that for every codec that requires some sort of extradata we
need to think about various ways to support outband reliable
transmission, given we have already an inband way to provide them that
could enjoy some sort of redundancy if that is the only way have
improved reliability.
Using another protocol to ensure the deliver is probably the only
solution we can suggest. Seems that one solution is to provide an
external uri where to fetch the extradata. I'm trying to find other
solution to push (and/or fetch) that extradata. That way if there isn't
support for rtsp because rtp is used as transport for another
infrastructure we should think about as many way as possible to provide
them.
I stated in the latest e-mail the ones that could work and which one
should the best for a streaming client/server as we currently use them.
Probably for other applications the rtsp solution isn't applicable or
the http solution is easier since there is a http support already present.
Probably the dual rtp (one udp one tcp) could be a workable solution for
bare rtp communication.
