Thanks, Ralph.   I have already grumbled to Apple.

VLC works fine.  I haven't tried Songbird yet.    Maybe you could get 
CBC to put the same tip on their Vorbis page?   I'd do it myself, but 
the link that they give for CBC Audience Relations doesn't work.
