the problem they ran into was due to some instability with icecast2, this
was long long ago though (probably a year or a year and a half)...since
then, icecast2 has become rock solid, but for whatever reasons moving to a
new server platform for them was a bit much...I've talked to Ari many times
in the past about it, and his hesitation was centered around not touching
his working systems (he'd have to switch to using oddcast for the DSP) and
also the fact that vorbis streaming was not built into anything at the time.
all that being said, I believe alot of their source is now 192kbps MP3, so
transcoding to vorbis shouldn't be that much of an issue...granted not as
good as having the sources in vorbis, but I think youd be asking a heck of
a lot for them to store all their source in vorbis....anyway, thats what I
know... :)
