I see.  I'm inclined to classify lyrics as data rather than metadata, 
but I get the idea. ;)  Can anyone give other examples of metadata that 
would require extensive parsing?

I feel a usable metadata system doesn't necessarily require a lot of 
parsing.  I haven't seen much need for parsing tags.
