There was a vision for such a metadata format, but it in no way involved
the tagging mechanism, nor was I involved in it. Last I saw on this
list, it was supposed to be a separate interleaved XML stream in the Ogg
container.
I support the folks who feel that some types of metadata need their own
individual stream with their own format. This means that an implementor
can choose to implement some types of metadata and not others, without
being coerced into implementing every metadata type under the sun.
More developers means more support, more support theoretically means
more Ogg users. :-)
