<p>"I remember barely being able to play stereo 128kbit MP3s (@44.1KHz, 16bit)
on an old 486-DX4-100MHz. Usually it wouldn't do, and I had to drop to mono
playback."

<p><p>I had a 486 DX4 100MHz too, and i was able to play 128 kbits stereo mp3s
(44.1Khz of course), but when I was in dos only. I think I used Dosamp, or
cubic player (www.cubic.org).

Besides, one of my friend managed to play 128kbps 22khz stereo mp3 files on
a Cyrix 486 80 mhz on Windows 95 :(
