In X, you can configure these keys to act as modifiers for typing e.g. Greek
letters. I have an xmodmap file that does this at
http://www.cs.caltech.edu/~plattner/xmodmap.txt. Notice all the Unicode
characters after the letters and the "Mode_switch" mappings on keycodes 116 and
117 (right logo and menu keys).
