I think both the strategies of overloading performer and providing more
specific role fields will accomplish the same thing. If I was going to pick 
one for an informal standard, I'd go with role fields as it's easier to 
implement, but the crux of the problem is that I don't think either strategy 
will be acceptable as an offical standard, as they both run against the 
spirit of the standard as it stands.
