8.5, eh?  That's pretty old.  How old is your machine?

<p>The latest version of Audion (3.0.1) works with vorbis 1.0.  I think just 
for playback, no recording yet.  I'm not sure why the vorbis player page 
hasn't been updated to reflect this.

They have versions for OS X and 8.6 or higher.  This probably means it 
uses Apples carbon apis.  You will need to download these from apples 
website.  A G3 seems to be the minimum machine for ogg playback (mp3s and 
oggs will skip and distort on very slow machines)

The mac version of OggDrop also has a rudimentary player, which I have 
used.  It's not pretty (yet), but it works.  I think the requirements are 
similar to Audion.  An updated version with a 1.0 encoder and updated 
player is coming.
