Greetings:

I would like to add a few words regarding this subject.

Jack Moffitt has been immensely supportive while I'm trying to figure
out how to stream Vorbis *and* receive it via XMMS and/or ogg123. Alas,
my efforts have failed. I can build Icecast 2; I can build the example
streamer from the libshout directory; I know how to configure
icecast.xml; I know how to create an OGG playlist; the server runs; I
can set up the example streamer, cat a playlist to it, the server and
streamer both acknowledge the connection; I open ogg123 or XMMS with the
correct URL, the server shows the connection, and nothing happens. The
XMMS display indicates the connection, but it stalls waiting for a
reply. ogg123 doesn't report anything. I've tried dozens of variations
on Jack's suggested syntax to the streamer, but I'm obvisouly missing
something.

So, my question is: does anyone actually have Icecast 2 streaming
Vorbis to the Internet ? I'm not sure we really need another mail-list,
but I am sure we could use some more discussion on *this* list regarding
the practical aspects of streaming Vorbis. At least, I figured I'd find
such information here, although I'm really not sure if I should be
posting to the Vorbis list or the Icecast list.

My deadline is next Friday. I will be happy to supply details of my
efforts. I would like to hear of any successes with streaming Vorbis,
and I would vastly appreciate any assistance in getting my own server up
and running.

Best regards,
