Hi:

the problem with multiple soundcards is that each card has its own internal
clock.  This means that recordings from 2 seperate cards will inevitably
drift at some point.  Even if the 2 cards are the same make and model.

The only way to do this reliably is, as previously stated, a multichannel
soundcard like the hammerfall.  I've not really looked into multichannel
soundcards so I can't really recommend any, particularly considering you
only need 4 channels for this job.
