Here's what I don't get. I don't understand how such a scheme can be
introduced without affecting all stand-alone CD players. If standard
players can play them, then surely standard rippers can rip them or at
least can be hacked to do so. Of course, I wouldn't put it past the
industry to try to make CDROM drives respect the copy-protection status of
these CD's, but consumers aren't going to like this and will probably just
hang on to their current drives (hey, my 24x drive is more than fast enough
for my needs). This is surely doomed. I'd like to see more detail but I
can't see how this is going to work.
