Ok, first of all these are my opinions and comments to Jonathan Walther's
proposal.
I would appreciate proper responses so lose the flame.

DESCRIPTION _is_ a bit vague, but ADDENDUM is a bit over the top.
What about COMMENT? Couldn't you just use it?
(Actually, COMMENT is even more vague but the meaning of the word is also
broader.)

I agree that CONDUCTOR, AUTHOR, PRODUCER and ARRANGER tags might be nice to
separate.
However, I don't find separating PERFORMER and ENSEMBLE necessary. Why not
just overload the ARTIST tag (or name it PERFORMER)?
You know, people who need to differentiate PERFORMER and ENSEMBLE should be
able to do it by their names.

Great

No comment, don't mind. Wouldn't really use them anyway...

 >MEDIA
How about using COMMENT?

 >OPUS
So, is OPUS just a number?
How about additional TITLE as 'Opus 3'? (Yeah, I might not just get it.)

 >TITLE
 >TRACKNUMBER

Loving it.

to include more information.
 >COMPOSER
 >ARRANGER
 >PRODUCER
Ok.

 >LYRICIST
 >AUTHOR
There's a certain conceptual type of ambiguousness here. I don't find it
reasonable to differentiate LYRICIST and AUTHOR. AUTHOR will suffice,
LYRICIST is not really needed.
More informative would be to actually have an ADAPTED_BY tag if some
adaption has been made for the whole of the lyrics.
Other information can be put in as a COMMENT.

 >CONDUCTOR
Sure.

 >PERFORMER
 >ENSEMBLE
Anyone who knows anything can tell whether Yoyo Ma (or Berlin Philharmonic
for that matter) is an ENSEMBLE or a PERFORMER.
Others probably don't care. ARTIST will suffice.

 >TYPE
 >GENRE
GENRE should not be limited to any selection of genres. In that case is
TYPE needed? Couldn't you just use one more GENRE tag?

 >DATE
 >LOCATION
Nice.

 >ADDENDUM
Differs from COMMENT... how? If only by fancier name I must admit I like
COMMENT better.

Anyway, this is what I'd like to see.
