You might also want to consider making up some kind of saleable product,
like the FSF's compiled-for-you GCC set. This would make it easier for some
companies to contribute. (I.e. they would never give you money but wouldn't
bat an eye to pay $5,000 for 'Vorbis Developers Kit' which would include
perhaps nothing you couldn't download from the Internet for free).
