Which systems are those? I thought pkg-config was pretty
universal by now.

The main problem is that you need to keep it up to date.
I had quite a bit of trouble getting libvorbis cross compiling
from Linux to windows not working. I fixed it by removing
acinclude.m4 (and autogenerated file) because the one in SVN
had an old, broken version of the PKG_MODULE macro.
