Unfortunately, explorer.exe isn't one of 'em; I can get it to connect to a
mod_dav-made read-only (GET and PROPFIND only) server, but it isn't working
when I point explorer to http://svn.xiph.org/ . The thing seems  to work
just fine over bog-standard HTTP, though.

I'll see what Finder.app does when I next boot my Mac.
