Either your distribution is broken, or you installed a new gcc version without
reading the install instructions.  Bad, bad idea.  You need to install new
binutils as well, and depending on what exact conflict this is (there
were a
few problems with the same symptoms), your libstdc++ and/or your glibc (needs
at least version 2.2) and/or your dynamic loader (ld.so), depending on the
packaging you get it in.  Be sure to get a full binutils, at least a new
ld and gas.
