You'll probably have to be. There's no getting around the overloading; I 
was just trying to make explicit suggestions about how to choose between 
alternatives.

I certainly agree people are trying to overspecify, no argument 
there. :-)

P.S. Jack said you might know some good references on metadata and 
cataloging. I'd be interested in anything you could forward for the 
design of the metadata substream.
