Also, both the freeamp project and our mctplayer based on freeamp (both available from sourceforge,
and ours from www.mctplayer.com as well) are open source projects that decode
mp3. I know that there are other open source projects (winamp, etc.) that decode MP3's. So there is no
shortage of MP3 decoding open source software.
If what you want is information, I suggest you go to the Fraunhofer Institute at
http://www.iis.fhg.de/amm/techinf/layer3/
and start digging - there is a huge amount of information available on the web.
But I would also suggest that you not use this list for further questions about MP3's :)
