It's only about two instructions faster... In a ten-instruction block,
that would be fast, but only in a tight loop.  Since the float-to0int
code isn;t called that often, it doesn't make it noticeably faster.

Assembly would speed up the decoding on PPC, since compilers have a
horrible time when lots of data is being moved about (read
http://oscar.the-rileys.net/programming/assem.html for an example).
