Sorry - I recently joined the list, and only found this while going through
the archives.

I am involved in the open source Blackfin projects found at
http://blackfin.uclinux.org/ including an open source hardware development
platform (BF533 - 750MHz, 10/100 Ethernet, 128 Meg of SDRAM, 4 Meg of
Flash), which has a daughter card that supports the AD1836A (5.1 channel
out, 4 channels in + S/P-DIF in/out) A cool picture (2nd batch of boards,
from one of the kernel developers floor) is at:
http://blackfin.uclinux.org/frs/download.php/123/STAMP.jpg
The Audio card is at:
http://blackfin.uclinux.org/frs/download.php/200/AD1836A_0v0.82.jpg
Main hardware project is at:
http://blackfin.uclinux.org/projects/stamp
Note that this this does not use ADI's tools, but open source boot loader
(Das u-boot), gcc and uClinux. all available at:
http://blackfin.uclinux.org/projects/gcc3/
http://blackfin.uclinux.org/projects/uclinux533/
http://blackfin.uclinux.org/projects/uboot533/
A few months ago, when the version of gcc that was available was, - well,
was pretty crappy, that ran on old version of the uClinux kernel, that was,
well - kinda crappy too - a few people tried getting ogg vorbis going, and
had some difficulty (compiler bugs prevented the optimizer from being
turned on) but they were able to stream PCM across a network on the BF535
(300MHz).
They are now talking about using the newer version of gcc that is available
(where the optimizer mostly works), and the new kernel (2.8.x), on new
hardware BF533 STAMP.
The same developers that did the above is now looking at tremor under
uClinux on this platform. If you would like to become involved - let me know.
