16 Mbps should be sufficient for that resolution. Is it possible the 
movie is fine, but playback is just too slow? That's a common problem
with the reference implementation.

If you can make the movie publicly available, I can check for you. 
Otherwise, hack your player to show all frames (or just reencode
with a much lower framerate) and see if that helps.
