[Speex-dev] how does the VAD in speex work?

Hello,

I'm using the Voice Activity Detection implemented in speex for an
application made for my bachelor thesis. I tried to figure out how the VAD
is working but I couldn't get it.

I would appreciate it if someone could give me a short explanation.

Is it based on energy and zero-crossing rate?
