iam using speex for the first time...iam using it in real time.....in command line as:-

speexenc /dev/dsp old.spx
Encoding 8000 Hz audio using narrowband mode (mono)

when i played this encoded file old.spx in command line:-

aplay pld.spx
Playing raw data 'old.spx' : Unsigned 8 bit, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono

then i decoded this old.spx in command line:-

speexdec old.spx new.wav
Decoding 8000 Hz audio using narrowband mode (mono)

then i played this new.wav

 aplay new.wav
Playing WAVE 'new.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono

here iam not able to hear this decoded file...why it is playing this signed 16 bit Little Endian and so very speedy playing and not able to hear.. even though encoded file is unsigned 8 bit....
how can i play it in 8 bit unsigned...
