[Speex-dev] Voice activation detection

Hi all !

How Speex VAD works?  I mean, what kind of algorithm is used? It uses dynamic threshold?
I'm testing the VAD function with some computers/microphones and it is working only when the silence is sampled with values near zero (around -50 ~ 50). 
With some microphones (and with some computers too) silence is sampled with noise values like 150 ~ 200, or -300 ~ -250.. and VAD just don't work (silence isn't detected). 

(Using Speex 1.0.4)
