[paranoia] cdparanoia stops predictably on certain disks

Try using scsi-emulation if you are using a 2.4.x series
kernel.  Make sure that the scsi emulation module pick up
the cd drive and that use have also compiled the sg module.

Also, there have been many timeout issues reported to the
list dealing with via southbridge chipsets.  If you have
one of these, another thing you could try is moving the
drive to the other controller (i.e. from the Via ide
controller to the Promise controller).  I would first try
using scsi emulation as cdparanoia is built with this in
mind.
